Three Goals You Must Have to be Successful

In the previous blogs, it explained the reasons why you do not achieve your goals. Today, I will share three goals that you must have to be successful.

The Foundation: Prioritizing Your Health

Taking care of your health is the absolute first goal you must prioritize. Without it, everything else you are working for will mean nothing.

Over the years, neglecting my body was the biggest mistake I ever made. In my early twenties, I never took the gym seriously and rarely ate a healthy, balanced meal. As a result, I often lack the energy today to tackle the daily tasks that would benefit my personal life, my career, and my family. Having been diagnosed with chronic health issues and suffering multiple injuries, I am now held back from participating in physical activities that I love. Even when my mind wants to aggressively keep moving, my body forces me to slow down because it is simply too painful to walk.

The moment you enter your twenties, you must set SMART goals for your physical well-being. If you don’t, a time will come when you want to relentlessly push forward in life, but your health will force you to hold back. Do not wait for a catastrophic wake-up call. Build a goal system that protects your health today, so your body can sustain the empire you want to build tomorrow.

Goals for your Career

When you are a young adult, you are naturally ambitious. There will be times in your life when you want to master everything. While there is nothing wrong with having big ambitions, having a clear and direct goal for your career—specifically, knowing what profession you want in life—is a must.

When I was six years old, I attended a career day and shared that I wanted to become a pilot. In high school, I became fascinated by computers and desired to be a computer engineer. Then, after senior high school, a deep curiosity about the human body made me want to become a doctor instead. This led me to nursing school, which transitioned into a Biology degree, and eventually, I took up law after graduating college.

Looking back at this experience, it is clear that I wasn't always sure which path to take. To avoid that uncertainty, set aside time starting today to discover what you really want. Connect with other people, talk to your parents, and always say yes to opportunities that will lead you toward your desired path. Ultimately, having a clear direction will help you save valuable time and resources as you build your future. Therefore, always ensure you have a SMART goal for your career.

Goals for your Finances

Everything is getting more expensive, making it crucial for every young adult to master personal finance through goal setting and planning.

There are two primary reasons why a person faces personal failure: unchecked vices and mismanaged finances. When someone gives in to instant gratification—whether through destructive vices or short-term pleasures—they can become mentally consumed by things that offer only temporary satisfaction. Similarly, when you don't know where or how your money is being spent, you inevitably mismanage your finances. As a result, you might spend more than you earn, or worse, drown in bad debt. If left unresolved, this cycle leads to severe consequences, including anxiety and depression stemming from the inability to provide for basic needs.

In personal finance, you must set clear goals for how much you save, spend, and invest. These three pillars are the ultimate keys to financial freedom. When you save, you prepare for the unexpected; when you control your spending, you practice wisdom; and when you invest, you act smartly by putting your money into assets that protect and provide for your future. This is the essence of true financial management.

Conclusion

To end, setting goals for your health, career, and finances will be difficult at first. However, the most important principle here is that you are building a framework for how you should live your life—and as a result, you will achieve far greater success in the future.
